A mechanical four-way is made by combining the upper halves of two mechanical three-ways. It's convenient and flexible to use, and under certain conditions, it can replace a reducing four-way. Depending on the types of mechanical three-ways combined, you can end up with different forms like grooved mechanical four-way, threaded mechanical four-way, grooved reducing mechanical four-way, threaded reducing mechanical four-way, or threaded-grooved reducing mechanical four-way. Mechanical four-ways require high-quality hole openings, and the centers of the two holes must be aligned, otherwise, it can easily cause pipe leaks. Since two holes are drilled on the same section of the main pipe during installation, it has a significant impact on the pipe's strength. So, during installation, the branch pipe diameter of the mechanical four-way should be at least three levels smaller than the main pipe diameter. Depending on the environment, surface treatments can include electrostatic spraying, hot-dip galvanizing, painting, or Dacromet coating.
